Simon Solis-Cohen, founder of Tasting Merchants
“With ecommerce, you have to look pro. Consistency is the barrier to entry.”
Tasting Merchants knows visuals are the barrier to entry for selling and marketing wine online.
The wine industry runs on a tight margin, and there is little room to catch up if any element of the chain breaks down. This is a reality that Simon Solis-Cohen understands as the founder of Tasting Merchants, an e-commerce site that offers consumers handcrafted, naturally farmed, small-batch wines.
When wineries work with Tasting Merchants, it’s because they want a trusted partner to help sell their wine. Many Tasting Merchants clients trust Simon to take care of aspects of marketing and ecommerce that they simply don’t have the time or team to handle. He’s not going to let them down by offering less than the best when it comes to visuals, which are one of the top factors that influence digital sales. (Read an interview with Simon here.)
Sarah Hanson Citron, director of marketing at Bricoleur Vineyards
Outshinery is a lifesaver! We are blown away with how professional the team is and how patient they are with all of our updates! We love our product photography photos and lifestyle photos and look forward to doing more.
Bricoleur Vineyards needed to promote their wine pre-release, before it was even bottled.
Bricoleur Vineyards is located in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. When they rolled out their new rosé, Flying By the Seat of the Pants, they needed photos to introduce this wine to their customers.
The label design was gorgeous, complete with shiny rose gold lettering. It is a limited-edition release, and the team at Bricoleur was excited to roll it out to their customers, guests, and members before it was bottled. No problem. Because the wine label artwork was already buttoned up, that’s all we needed to make Bottle Shots and Lifestyle Images that brought this wine to life. Creating enthusiasm for a product before it’s available to purchase is a surefire way to boost sales and customer engagement.
Ed Feuchuk, Tank Garage Winery
“There once was a time when only big movie studios could afford helicopter shots. Now anybody with a simple drone can. That’s how I feel about these bottle shots.
We can now take these wines we’ve worked so hard on and capture product shots and visuals that would make Apple drool…all thanks to Outshinery.“
Tank Garage uses envelope-pushing marketing and packaging to get noticed big time.
Tank Garage describes itself as a “weird little winery in Calistoga with cool labels and an affinity for the F word.” It’s totally one of a kind, and president Ed Feuchuk has an instinct for using this vibe to connect with a tribe of loyal customers.
Never one to accept lackluster, Tank Garage goes all-in to create labels that reflect their aesthetic, especially when a concept pushes the envelope. The fact that people might find some of their looks controversial (such as Skin Flick, which embodies the essence of the ‘Golden Age of Porn’) means that images of their bottles get shared constantly. Ed wanted flawless photography that captured every detail and turned to Outshinery for Bottle Shots that are perfectly rendered, just like the label artwork.
Sylvia Aranda, Wine Packaging Designer
“Outshinery is world-class. They make magic happen. When the print details are precious and detailed, they’re so patient and equally technical. I continue to be blown away. (And getting proofs feels like Christmas morning!)“
Sylvia needs photography that lives up to her label designs.
Sylvia Aranda is a powerhouse designer in Oakland, California, where she makes “future-proof” designs for clients nationwide, including wineries. As an expert in package design, she wants her customers to have photos that capture the quality they prioritize.
Slyvia had some killer designs that she wanted to show off in exquisite detail. Because her projects are simply a concept until her client implements them, there isn’t an actual bottle to photograph. So to illustrate the capacity of her composition, she used Outshinery to match the skill and artfulness she puts into every project.
JJ Williams, Kiona Vineyards
“Outshinery can single-handedly change how a winery markets itself. On-demand, high-quality, uniform bottle shots? Yes please! Turn around is just a couple of days and the cost is much lower than hiring a “real” photographer. We get compliments all the time.”
Kiona Vineyards expects quality and value on-demand.
The Williams family of Kiona Vineyards has been farming on Red Mountain in Washington State for decades. As experienced growers and winemakers, this family wants the best when they bring their wine to the marketplace.
JJ Williams is director of operations at Kiona Vineyards and he is involved in just about every aspect of the family business. Because of this, he needs things done right and done quickly. Getting Bottle Shots on his schedule—without hassle or overspending—is what he expects (and gets) from the Outshinery team.
Mackenzie Cecchi, Casino Mine Ranch
“Professional, timely, patient, and thoughtful! Some of the best digital work I’ve seen. Outshinery always gives me a consistent final product. Makes the marketing side of my job easy because every shot is clean and professional.“
Mackenzie insists on looking totally professional.
As chief of staff at Casino Mine Ranch in Amador County, California, Mackenzie Cecci produces flawless marketing support for her brand. It’s her job, after all, to provide customers with materials that bring to life the skill of the Casino Mine Ranch winemaking team, Jessica Tarpy Shaheen and Andy Erickson.
But marketing isn’t her only hat. She also runs a clean and convenient ecommerce site so shoppers around the country can get their hands on these wines. For this, Mackenzie relies on Bottle Shots that capture the distinct color shades that inherently reflect the profile of each wine via the label.
Jason Auxier, marketing coordinator at Morgan Winery
No more sending bottles out to be photographed every year due to slight changes. No more expensive photographer shoots to promote a featured wine. Get it all done at Outshinery, fast, friendly, and right on budget!”
Morgan Winery needed vintage updates (yep, those are free).
Morgan Winery is one of Santa Lucia Highlands’ finest producers, known for small production, terroir-driven releases from its own Double L Vineyard as well as with some of the best grapes sourced from trusted neighbors.
Morgan Winery has a classic-style label that is an icon of the brand. While this remains constant, there are sight variations in color from vintage to vintage and, of course, a new year indicated on the bottle. Jason Auxier, marketing coordinator, loves that he doesn’t need to pay for these updates to his Bottle Shots. Outshinery does it for free. Oh, and no matter what: no physical samples ever need to be shipped.
